Robberies of women reported in Gresham

Police are warning residents about a pair of robberies reported last month in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.

In each incident, a group of men approached a female victim, punched her in the face, and then stole her belongings, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The first robbery occurred in the early evening hours of June 19 in the 8400 block of South Ashland, police said. The second happened in the 8400 block of South Loomis on June 23 in the early afternoon.

The suspects were described as a group of two or three black men between 20 and 29, according to police. They stood between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-2, and weighed 165-225 pounds.
