3 shot in Calumet City

CALUMET CITY, Ill. (WLS) -- Two men and one woman have been shot in Calumet City.

At least one of the victims was inside a vehicle when they were shot. All three victims were taken to Christ Medical Center. One of the victims has life-threatening injuries.

The shooting took place around 3:30 p.m. Friday in the 600-block of River Drive.

Neighbors say a red SUV pulled up next to a black car and began firing. Neighbors initially thought they were firecrackers. A neighbor followed the SUV for a short distance after the shooting and called the police, but was unable to get a plate number.

At least 20 shell casings litter the street. The investigation is ongoing.
