Local public school teacher gets a surprise
A Chicago Public School teacher got a surprise on Tuesday before she heads back to class after summer vacation.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- DonorsChoose.org - a charity that has funded more than 700,000 classroom projects for teachers and positively affected more than 18 million students across the country - is in Chicago alongside Staples to surprise a local public school teacher by funding her classroom project just in time for the back-to-school season.

DonorsChoose.org projects (roughly $200,000 worth) will be funded through this partnership between DonorsChoose.org and Staples - the impetus for this being that 99% of public school teachers spend their own money to equip their classrooms annually, frequently at a cost of $400 or more per year.
