CHICAGO (WLS) -- The reward for information leading to an arrest in the shooting death of the son of a Chicago police officer was increased to $13,000.

Arshell "Trey" Dennis III was visiting his sick mother on a quick trip home from college when he was murdered in the city's Wrightwood neighborhood last week, hours before he was set to fly back to New York.

Dennis graduated from Urban Prep Academy and was studying journalism at St. John's University. He was 19.

Father Michael Pfleger of Saint Sabina Church sent out a new reward poster Wednesday. It calls for members of the community to "break the code of silence" and "be the blue light" on their block, to help stem the violence plaguing the city.

Anyone with information that could lead to Dennis' killer should call Detectives Scott Reiff or Dale Potter at 312-747-8380 or St. Sabina at 733-483-4300.

Friends and family will gather for his visitation at Monument of Faith Church form 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday. His wake and funeral will be held Thursday.
