CHICAGO (WLS) -- A hotel in the Chicago Loop is going to the dogs for National Dog Day. On Saturday, August 27, 2016, the Kinzie Hotel is hosting furry guests and their owners for a day of pampering. The hotel is teaming up with the Alive Rescue to offer free activities and treats for both dogs and humans.

The event helps kick-off the Kinzie Hotel's new pet package. Dogs are invited to stay and play at Kinzie Hotel all year-round. Upon arrival, pooches are greeted with customized welcome gift bags that includes gourmet treats, an "I Explored Chicago" bandana, chew toys, pet shampoos, and complimentary copies of FIDO Friendly magazine and Kinzie's own "Pet Lover's Guide to the City." The hotel also offers dog-sitting, walking, spa treatments, and other ways to show your pup a good time.

Kinzie Hotel is also partnering with the local non-profit boutique rescue, ALIVE, for two charitable support initiatives: rescue "Dog of the Month" social media program, in which Kinzie Facebook fans can help find homeless Chicago pooches a home; and a donation program, in which partial proceeds from each Pamper Your Pooch packages sold will go back to ALIVE in the form of a monetary donation. Melissa Driza from the Kinzie Hotel, and Founder of Alive Rescue, Kristen Gerali, joined ABC 7 to talk about the new initiatives.
