CHICAGO (WLS) -- Metra and Amtrak riders who use Chicago's Union Station will soon have access to a new, upgraded CTA bus facility, city officials said.

The Union Station Transit Center is scheduled to open Sunday, the city said. It's located just south of the station on West Jackson Boulevard between South Canal and South Clinton streets.

The bus center will connect directly to the station - underground. Riders will be protected from the weather, officials said.

The city also plans to create separate lanes for CTA buses on Canal.
