CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago Police busted a fencing operation of stolen electronics during a sting operation.

It was called "Operation Hot Corner." Police got a tip back in November after suspicious activity was observed at five businesses on the 4100-block of West Roosevelt Road.

Officers moved in and recovered half a million dollars of gadgets, including smart phones and 800 counterfeit items.

"Interestingly enough, there was a device recovered that can outsmart and outwit security systems on smart phones and make them re-sellable," Comander Karen Konow of the Organized Crime Division, said.

Two people were taken into custody and two weapons were also recovered in that bust.
