WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WLS) -- Six hundred marijuana plants were found in a daycare center last week, officials said.

Police said they found the plants growing in the backyard of the West Haven, Conn., daycare last Friday while doing a compliance inspection. The plants were about six to 10 feet tall.

The facility was shut down by City Housing inspectors and the daycare's license was revoked, police said.

According to state records, the daycare center can care for up to six children.

The West Haven Police Department said "arrests are forthcoming."
