Crete-Monee Middle School delays opening for 'safety issues'

Children at Crete-Monee Middle School in south suburban University Park did not start classes as scheduled today.

School officials said in a note to parents that they spotted some "safety issues" there. Superintendent Nathaniel Cunningham, Jr., said contractors have been informed of the issues and given 48 hours to fix them.

Classes could resume Thursday if the problems are fixed.
