BURNHAM, Ind. --A 17-year-old boy was shot to death Friday evening in south suburban Burnham, police said.
Police were called to the 14500-block of Hoxie Avenue about 7:30 p.m. for reports of a person shot, according to a statement from Burnham Police Chief Peter Belos. Officers arrived to find Ron J. Gaston lying in the street with gunshot wounds.
Gaston, who lived in the 14400-block of Hoxie, was taken to St. Margaret Health in Hammond, Ind., where he was pronounced dead at 8:13 p.m., according to police and the Lake County (Ind.) Coroner's Office. His death was ruled a homicide.
Burnham police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force are investigating and "pursuing numerous leads," according to Belos.
