2 injured after person struck by CTA Red Line train in Loop

The Chicago Fire Department responds after a person was struck by a Red Line train near State and Lake.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two people were injured after a person was struck by a CTA Red Line train Sunday morning in the Loop, the Chicago Fire Department said.

The incident on the Red Line tracks at State and Lake at about 9:10 a.m., CFD said.

The person was hit by the train was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The engineer of the train was transported in fair condition, CFD said.

Red Line trains were briefly diverted downtown from the subway to the elevated tracks.
