HPD says there was an exchange of gunfire in the parking lot of the restaurant, and one man was hit.

The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Miguel Angel Cid.

Cid's friends tried to save him, driving him to East Regional Hospital, but it was too late and Cid died of his injuries.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Sturdivant and Senior Police Officer D. Arnold reported:

Several witnesses saw what appeared to be an exchange of gunfire inside a vehicle parked at a Jack in the Box at the above address. Mr. Cid was seen being pushed out of the vehicle where he continued to return fire at the vehicle as it fled the scene. Cid then collapsed and was soon picked up by another vehicle, driven by his brother, and then transported to the hospital.

At this time, there is no known motive nor suspects.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
