Body found in burning car in Skokie identified

SKOKIE, Ill. (WLS) -- A body that was found in a burning car in north suburban Skokie has been identified.

Thomas Damnitz, 50, was found dead in the driver's seat in the 9100-block of Lawler Avenue on October 8, according to Skokie police. He was found after someone phoned 911 to report a car fire around 5:30 p.m.

Damnitz lived in the same block he was found.
