Police: Armed robbers targeting victims in Roscoe Village, Lakeview

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police have issued an alert after a series of armed robberies in the Roscoe Village and Lakeview neighborhoods this month.

In each of the incidents, police said three to four men approached the victims while they were alone, either standing on the street or sitting in a vehicle, and then displayed a chrome/silver handgun. They then demanded the victim's money or vehicle, police said.

Four armed robberies were reported on Oct. 11 in the 2200-block of West Melrose Street at 3:30 a.m., in the 3000-block of North Ravenswood Avenue at 4:15 a.m., in the 1000-block of West Byron Street at 4:30 a.m. and in the 500-block of West Briar Place at 5:15 a.m. Another robbery was reported on October 14 at 4:46 p.m. in the 800-block of West Lakeside Place, police said.

The suspects are described as men between the ages of 18 and 20, police said. In the armed robberies on October 11, one suspect was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and another was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
