CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two people were injured when the vehicle they were riding in was struck by a Metra train Tuesday morning in the South Shore neighborhood.

The vehicle was struck by Metra Electric Train No. 319 near 71st and Constance about 11:45 a.m., Metra spokesman Tom Miller said.

Two people in the vehicle were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Jeff Lyle said. Their ages and genders weren't immediately available.

On Tuesday afternoon, Chicago police said the victims were in "good" condition.
