FOX LAKE, Ill. (WLS) -- Melodie Gliniewicz appeared in front of a Lake County judge Tuesday. She is the widow of Fox Lake Police Lieutenant Joe Gliniewicz, who killed himself and tried to make it look like murder in 2015.

Melodie Gliniewicz was charged in January with conspiracy, unlawful use of charitable funds and money laundering. These charges stem from an investigation into Joe Gliniewicz and his use from funds from the Fox Lake Police Explorers Program.

Joe Gliniewicz staged his suicide to look like a murder on Sept. 1, 2015 as the investigation got closer to him about the use of explorer funds.

Melodie Gliniewicz did not comment publicly Tuesday. She appeared before a Lake County judge after her attorney filed a motion to dismiss the charges against her, arguing Joe Gliniewicz was solely responsible and in charge of the explorer funds and solely benefited.

Prosecutors alleged that she did benefit and was co-signatory on the explorer account, benefiting from the estimated $50,000 spent on vacations, mortgage payments and personal expenses.

Melodie Gliniewicz is due back in court on Dec. 13 for a status on the motion to dismiss. Her trial date has been pushed back to Feb. 6.
