Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant named National League MVP

Chalk up another win for Kris Bryant! The third baseman for the Chicago Cubs has been named the 2016 National League MVP with 29 of the possible 30 first place votes.

The World Series Champion Bryant primarily played third base during the 2016 season, but he also fielded left field and center field in a few games.

Bryant hit .292 with 39 homers and 102 RBIs in just his second year in the majors, helping the Cubs to their first World Series title since 1908. He becomes just the sixth player to win rookie of the year and MVP in one or consecutive seasons.

Bryant received 29 first-place votes, and Washington second baseman Daniel Murphy was the runner-up.

Bryant was the National League Rookie of the Year in 2015 and is the first Cubs player in franchise history to win both awards at any point with the team.
