NORTH PLATTE, Neb. --A little girl in Nebraska got in a little bit of trouble, after she called 911 without an emergency, but she had good intentions.
She called 9-1-1 because she wanted deputies to come to her birthday party.
That girl was 6-year-old Justice. Her mother Penny was outside doing chores when she got a call from dispatch.
"We got Internet through the landline and she didn't know it was a phone. She had never seen anything but a cellphone," she said.
Back at the sheriff's office, Derek Hanna was one of two deputies who responded to the Miller's home that day.
"She did want us to come to her birthday party in February she thought it was three weeks away instead of three months away. So that is how she was contacting us to get to her birthday party," Hanna said.
As for the birthday party, the police chief says the department has something special planned for Justice, but also wanted to remind people not to call 911 unless it is a true emergency.
