A cancer patient who was denied dental coverage has received a $1,900 check just weeks after the I-Team first reported in October about their battle for insurance coverage.

The check was recently issued to James Pomerantz and his wife Mary, who has been fighting esophageal and tongue cancer.

Pomerantz said radiation forced her to undergo numerous dental procedures, costing several thousands of dollars.

Blue Cross Blue Shield said the claims were originally denied because of coding and that the "primary diagnosis" was dental, not cancer related.

In our first report, the insurer reimbursed the family about $3,000 after claims were resubmitted.
