Unusual winter season affects local businesses
Tonight the entire Chicago area is under a tornado warning watch and recording record high temperatures. Tomorrow it's supposed to snow. And it's impacting local businesses.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Tuesday's high temperatures could also break the record, which is 62 degrees. Temperatures were in the 50s around midday and are expected to climb.[br /]][br /][Ads /][br /]Roofers were working Tuesday, putting a new roof on the Park District building in Oak Park. It's them most unusual winter season in memory for the folks at Lindholm Roofing.[br /][br /]"Usually we get a lot of ice and snow, and usually at this time of year it's super slow," said Chuck Nykolyshyn, owner, said.[br /][br /]It's the first time in nearly 150 years that Chicago has gotten no measurable snow for the entire months of January and February. That's bad news for snow removal companies, good news for municipalities saving money on road salt and overtime for plowing. But for roofers, it's a two-sided coin. They are able to work but with no snow and ice to cause leaky roofs, there's not much work to go around.[br /][Ads /][br /]"It's a bad thing because we don't have a lot of business in front of us, and there are crews that, like I mentioned, want to work but they can't because we literally don't have work for 'em," Nykolyshyn said.[br /][br /]Wednesday's temperatures are a different story. They are expected to fall all day. Highs are only expected to reach the mid-40s and snow is expected to develop around noon. Butler said some accumulation is expected, but most areas will only see less than an inch. Areas near the Wisconsin state line may see just over an inch of snow.
