UNINCORPORATED COOK COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- Crews searched Saturday afternoon for a teenager who went missing in the Des Plaines River near Melrose Park, authorities said.

The teenager was with about a dozen other teenagers hanging out on the railroads by the river, near the 8300-block of West North Avenue in unincorporated Cook County.

Three teenagers jumped into the river, but the victim was seen struggling to stay above water. He then disappeared and the teenagers called 911.

The search was suspended Saturday night and expects to resume Sunday morning.

The Cook County Forest Preserve, Illinois State Police and the railroad police are assisting with the search.
