2 shot while walking down street in Belmont Cragin

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two people were shot while walking in the city's Belmont Cragin neighborhood, police said.

The victims were walking down the street in the 2700-block of North Lavergne early Sunday morning when police say an offender exited a car and began shooting at them.

The female victim was shot in the head and the male victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds, officials said. Both have been hospitalized. Their conditions have not been released.

No one has been taken into custody and police are continuing to investigate.
