Illinois Treasurer hosts Asian Pacific American Heritage event

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A cultural celebration at the Thompson Center Tuesday recognized Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

It was hosted by Illinois Treasurer Michael Frerichs' office and ABC7's Judy Hsu was invited to be the keynote speaker.

Seven honorees received awards for their outstanding commitment to the community, ranging from business leadership to education to volunteer work.
