A St. Charles man is accused of sexually assaulting children while helping his wife run a home day care in northwest suburban Schaumburg.

The suspect is being held on $3 million bond, and we've learned the day care in question did not have a license to operate.

On Thursday, 72-year-old Julio Marquez was charged with harming not just one, but two children.

Police say a few years ago, Marquez helped his wife run a home day care center on Wise Road in Schaumburg.

One of the alleged victims was a three-year-old child who police say Marquez repeatedly sexually-assaulted at the day care in 2012.

The allegations were brought to police last month after the now-eight-year-old child told a new day care provider.

The case prompted police to re-open a previous investigation involving another child at the same day care.

This second alleged victim was five-years-old in 2012 when Marquez was accused of sexual abuse. Police say there wasn't enough evidence to pursue charges at the time.

Now Marquez is behind bars and charged in both cases.

Records show that home day care center, at the time of the alleged abuse, did not have the required state and municipal licenses. It's no longer operating after Marquez and his wife sold the house to a new owner and moved to St. Charles.
