DuPage Children's Museum explores the awesome power of water

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- The DuPage Children's Museum opened a Awesome Energy this weekend to complete its largest exhibit yet. The museum is making Chicago Proud and celebrating 30 years with a splash.

There's a new addition to the 17,000-square foot DuPage Children's Museum in Naperville, Illinois and it's all about the power of water.

"This is Awesome Energy. We've been working on this exhibit for almost six years now and it is the culmination of this new energy space that is all about air, water and electricity," said Kimberly Stull, Director of Exhibits and Operations. "It's this amazing opportunity for kids to get in and get wet, experiment with the properties of water."

The Naperville-based museum plans to pull back the tarp on the new exhibit and give kids the chance to test out 12 new experiences within three displays.

Exhibits and Operations Director Kimberly Stull says having the museum around for 30 years is a real testament to the importance the community has placed on early childhood education.

"The idea that we've had this much support for so long and knowing we're making an impact on families and children, it's been an amazing thing to be a part of," said Stull.

In addition to the official exhibit unveil there will be a celebration that will include a DJ, face painting and a photo booth. For more details on the celebration this weekend head to the DuPage Children's Museum website.
