Crosstown Classic moves to South Side for Game 3

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Cubs vs. Sox Crosstown Classic moved to the South Side and Guaranteed Rate Field for Game 3 of the series Wednesday night.

The White Sox and Cubs are tied with one game each in the series so far. There are some big differences between the ballparks, perhaps most notably that the South Side has parking lots and, therefore, tailgating. Parking Lots and bars around the stadium opened early to accommodate expected large crowds.

Bob Porras and Babette Adair are planning a wedding before the end of the year, but first they have to get through Wednesday night's game. Adair is a hardcore Cubs fan; he roots for the Southsider Sox.

"Oh yes, oh yeah, I'm very serious about it. I know they're going to win today. Go Cubs!" Adair said.

But does Porras agree?

"No, I don't. I definitely don't," he said.

The crosstown series is now more than 20 years old, but the North Side/South Side rivalry is still as fresh as ever. For some Cubs fans, this is their first time experiencing Sox Park, as well as the bar - owned by the team - across the street.

"Just looking at it so far, it looks nice, but nothing with replace the ivy," said Trevor Weidon, Cubs fan.

And speaking of Sox Park, halfway into the season some Sox fans are still have trouble with the new name, Guaranteed Rate Field.

"Downrate, Guaranteed Rate, I don't know," grumbled Sox fan Karen Posey.

Whatever fans call it, all eyes will be on the field Wednesday night as the Cubs and Sox split the first two games of the series at Wrigley. With the Cubs being defending World Series champs and the Sox admittedly in a rebuilding year, one would think Sox fans would not have high expectations. One would be wrong.

"Yes, because they want to be the Cubs," said Ashley Minder, Sox fan, when asked if she thinks her team can win.
