Al Gore film calls for action in climate crisis
An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power is a new chapter of Al Gore's film saga about the climate crisis.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- "An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power" is a new chapter of the film saga about the climate crisis, with Al Gore leading the charge in the call for action.

In 2006, the former vice president took a slide show, and with help, turned it into documentary to educate citizens on global warming. "An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power" is the follow up.

"This film has a lot of hope in it, as opposed to the first film that really trumpeted the problem," director Bonnie Cohen said. "We know have the solutions in place to start to turn it around and that's the message of this film."

The 2015 Paris Climate Accord is a co-star in this film. Gore had come early before the meeting to produce a broadcast. It was interrupted by terrorism.

"It made people think, what is important in the world, an ethical, moral compass that leads us towards a better planet for our children and grandchildren," director Jon Shenk said. "I think it really shocked Al and anybody who cares about the environment when President Trump made the announcement to pull out of Paris."

"The next generation would be justified in looking back at us and asking, what were you thinking? Couldn't you hear what the scientists were saying, couldn't you hear what Mother Nature was screaming at you?" Gore said.

"Mayors of cities, governors of states, CEO's of companies, schools, homeowners have stood up and said, 'Hey, wait a minute. This is important to us we want to leave a cleaner planet we want to save human civilization," Shenk said.

"An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power" opens in theaters Friday.
