Record year for Chicago summer camps

CHICAGO (WLS) -- This was a record setting year for Chicago's summer camp programs and the city celebrated with a dance performance.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel dropped by to see the program on Friday, at Collins Academy High School, in Douglas Park.

More than 21,000 children took part in the city's summer camps this year. That's up about three percent from last year.

Online registration for fall programs opens next week.
