The Bud Billiken Parade royal court is now in session after being crowned on Sunday.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Bud Billiken Parade royal court is now in session after being crowned on Sunday.

The king, queen, prince and princess received their crowns and attended their official coronation at the DuSable Museum of African American History.

The queen, fourth grader Isis Dixon, was overcome with emotion at the honor and then regained her composure and joined the rest of the court.

The court is chosen based on academics and extracurricular activities.

The coronation kicks off an exciting week of royal activities including a White Sox game, a trip to Great America and, of course, the parade.

Chicago's Chance the Rapper is this year's parade grand marshal.

ABC7 is the only TV station broadcasting the 88th Annual Bud Billiken Parade. You can catch all the fun on ABC7 on Saturday, August 12, starting at 10 a.m. and also on the ABC7 News App.

The royal court for this year's Bud Billiken Parade will be officially crownded Sunday.
