CHICAGO (WLS) -- A culinary reason to be Chicago Proud on Tuesday evening.

Bon Appetit magazine has named Chicago the Restaurant City of the Year.

"Chicago is clearly America's most exciting city to eat in right now," said Food Critic Julia Kramer.

Among the restaurants cited in the article are Alinea on North Halsted Street along with Elske on West Randolph Street and Giant on West Armitage Avenue in Logan Square.

"This recognition from a globally-renowned publication also recognizes Chicago's thriving culinary scene is not only the nation's best, but it reaches neighborhoods throughout the city - from Logan Square to Little Village to Hyde Park and far beyond," said Mayor Rahm Emanuel in a statement.
