A 17-year-old boy shot himself Aug. 15, 2017 inside a home day care on the South Side.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 17-year-old boy died Tuesday afternoon after shooting himself on Chicago's South Side, officials said.[br /][br /]The shooting happened at about 1 p.m. at a home day care in the 6500-block of South Oakley Avenue in the West Englewood neighborhood. The home had a "No Guns Allowed" sign on the window.][br /][Ads /][br /]The boy was identified as Angelo Hogan, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.[br /][br /]The licensed day care was not operating at the time. The homeowner's nieces and nephew were at the house, but did not witness the shooting.[br /][br /]The boy shot himself in front of his mother, who told a neighbor she did not know he had a gun or where he got it.[br /][Ads /][br /]The mother told Rev. Donovan Price that the boy had said he was troubled over the past few days.[br /][br /]"The trauma, the problems of living in Chicago, living in Englewood, living in a warzone, affects everybody in different ways," Price said.[br /][br /][media ID="2310926" /]
