Lawsuit tossed against Naperville police officer

A civil rights lawsuit filed by a Naperville resident against a local police officer and his department has been dismissed by a federal judge.

Resident Stephen Tracy alleged in a 2015 suit that Naperville officer Michael Hull illegally entered his home during a landlord dispute and conducted an unwarranted search.

U.S. District Court Judge Jorge Alonso dismissed the complaint against Hull and the city of Naperville.

In the July 19 order, Judge Alonso stated that "there is no evidence before the Court to suggest that Officer Hull entered the apartment to conduct a search, or that his mere presence in the doorway of the apartment was a violation of plaintiff's reasonable privacy expectations."
