CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two crashes snarled traffic on the Kennedy Expressway during the Thursday morning commute.

The first crash occurred before 6 a.m. near the Hubbard Street Tunnel on the inbound Kennedy. Four vehicles were involved and at least one person was hurt.

Emergency crews closed several lanes to clear the crash, backing up traffic headed into the city. All lanes were back open by around 6:30 a.m.

The second crash also occurred on the inbound Kennedy, near Irving Park Road, just after 6:30 a.m. There were also four cars involved in this collision and an ambulance was called to the scene. There was no word yet on injuries.

Crews closed several lanes of traffic, causing travel times to jump up to an hour and a half from O'Hare International Airport to downtown. Authorities moved the vehicles to the Addison Street crash investigation site around 7 a.m.
