24-year-old killed by accidental gunshot in Hyde Park

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 24-year-old man was killed after a gun accidentally went off while he a friend were playing with the weapon in the city's Hyde Park neighborhood, police said.

The victim, David Kennedy, and Paris Walker-Rush, 25, were inside of an apartment in the 5200-block of South Cornell Avenue when the incident occurred around 9:05 p.m. Friday, police said. Kennedy died as a result of a gunshot wound to the face, officials said.

Walker-Rush, a convicted felon, was arrested at the scene and charged with involuntary manslaughter and unlawful use of a weapon, police said. He was scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
