Caught on video: Suspect wrestles with Missouri officer

A routine traffic stop turned violent for a Missouri police officer as he ended up wrestling roadside with a suspect.

The dramatic confrontation was caught on the officer's cruiser video.

It started with the officer pulling the driver over for speeding.

The officer thought he smelled marijuana and ordered the suspect out of the car.

The struggle began when the officer tried to reach for a knife in the suspect's pocket.

It lasted a couple minutes. At one point, the officer had the suspect in a headlock and the driver tried to reach for the officer's gun. At another point, the suspect slipped out of his shirt and almost got away.

Eventually, the officer was able to get handcuffs on the man and called for backup. The suspect was arrested for assault.
