Fake $100 bills found in Lakeview
Lakeview business owners reported several fake $100 bills that pass the marker test.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Business owners in the Lakeview neighborhood reported a wave of convincing counterfeit $100 bills used in their stores.

Business owner Andrew McGuire said that a male in his 20s walked into McGuire's restaurant at 2914 N. Ashland Ave. in Lakeview on Sunday and gave the cashier a $100 bill. The bill passed the marker test but lacked other security features.

McGuire said this was the fourth fake bill the restaurant has received this summer.

Taboo Tabou owner Mark Thomas said that his Lakeview store also received counterfeit bills. A couple entered the store and purchased a $20 bodysuit with a counterfeit $100 bill, which also passed the marker test.

Aloha Poke's Lakeview location was also a victim.

One owner has surveillance video of the alleged suspect, but no one is in custody.
