CHICAGO (WLS) -- People in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood are on alert after armed robbers targeted three couples over the weekend.

Police said two couples walking home from dinner together in the 1900-block of West Evergreen Avenue were robbed by two armed men around 10:45 p.m. Saturday.

Victims told police the men rushed them from behind and told them to give them their money. Then they pushed the men's wives to the ground and stole their purses, while pointing their guns at the men. Police said they also got took the victims' cell phones and cash.

About 45 minutes later, a third couple was robbed in the 1700-block of North Honore Street, just south of the elevated Bloomingdale Trail.

Police said the suspects, who victims said were men in their late teens or early twenties, got away in a dark-colored sedan.

No one was injured in either robbery.

"It's crazy how it hits so close to home that you're like, in this nice kind of neighborhood. I know it can happen anywhere. It kind of made me a little bit sad for this area that it would happen to two couples," said Chris Conlu, who lives in the area.

Police are asking people to be on alert.
