Ashburn shooting kills 3, wounds 2
A gunman fatally shot two women before apparently turning the gun on himself Monday morning in Ashburn.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Three people were killed and two others injured in a shooting on Chicago's Southwest Side around 8:55 a.m. Monday at a residence in the 3500-block of 79th Place in the Ashburn neighborhood.

Chicago police said that two female adults were found dead inside the home, along with the body of an adult male who appeared to have shot himself. Two other males were found outside the home with non life-threatening injuries, police said.

Investigators suspect an argument at a graduation party Sunday night may have prompted the shooting.

Chicago police responded with SWAT and hostage/barricade teams to the scene, which was secured as of 10:15 a.m. Several people were "safely removed" from the residence, officials said.

Sheila Prince, a relative of the family involved, said the victims were all related. An older relative was injured and a teenage relative was shot in the leg, she said.

Prince said she believes it was one of her male cousins who died of the self-inflicted gunshot. Prince said he was being treated for mental illness.

Chicago police said in a preliminary report that the incident "appears to be domestic in nature."

Police are withholding the victims' identities until all family members have been notified.
