Chicago teens spotlight dating violence

One in three teenagers have experienced violence in their relationships, according to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC).

Parents rarely talk to their teens about dating violence, and 7 in 10 school leaders admit that they lack training.

Now, a group of Chicago area student athletes are putting a spotlight on the issue.

Seniors David Diaz and Nicole Gorder, Jones Academy soccer coach Derek Bylsma, and Yesenia Maldonado, executive director of Between Friends, visited the ABC7 studio on Tuesday to talk about their campaign to promote awareness.

The group created PSAs, which are playing on social media all month long.
