Authorities: Woman fatally struck by CTA bus in West Chatham

A woman was killed after being hit by a CTA bus in the first block of west 79th Street Tuesday night.

A woman was struck by a CTA bus and killed Tuesday evening in the West Chatham neighborhood on the South Side, authorities said.

At 7:29 p.m., the woman was in the street in the first block of West 79th Street when she was struck by the bus as it turned from Lafayette Avenue, according to Chicago Fire Media Affairs, Chicago police and the CTA.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The bus driver was cited for due care - pedestrian in crosswalk.
