Man killed in Dolton hit and run ID'd

A man killed in a hit-and-run crash Saturday morning in south suburban Dolton has been identified.

The Lake County, Indiana, Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 57-year-old Phillip Willis of Dolton, Illinois.

Willis was walking at the intersection of Sibley Boulevard and Evers Avenue about 2:15 a.m. when a vehicle struck him and then fled, Dolton police and the Lake County Coroner's Office in Indiana said. He was knocked across the intersection.

He was taken to Franciscan Health in Hammond, Indiana, where he was pronounced dead at 2:38 a.m., according to the coroner's office.

Dolton Police were investigating.
