40-year-old Portage man killed in pit bull attack, police say

PORTAGE, Ind. (WLS) -- Police in northwest Indiana are investigating an alleged pit bull attack that killed a 40-year-old man, officials said.

The incident happened in Portage, Ind., inside the home of the victim, Edward Cahill.

Police say his girlfriend arrived home around 8 p.m. Thursday to find him with several bites to his arm and face. Cahill was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two pit bulls were found in the home, police say, though it's not clear if the dogs belonged to the couple.
