8 charged in West Englewood dog fighting ring

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Eight people are facing felony charges after police say they discovered injured dogs and a dog fighting ring inside a West Englewood home.

Police said they were called to the 6600-block of S. Winchester around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Officers said they found four pit bulls with "wounds consistent with dog fighting."

Police charged the following individuals with one felony count of attending a dog fighting show: Taylon Hughes, 24, of Chicago; Shaquille Middleton, 20, of Country Clubs Hills; Charles Ray, 28, of Chicago; Arnulfo Sanchez, 37, of Harvey; Sabrina Morris, 44, of Chicago; William Hill, 18, of Chicago; Jimmie Kelly, 59, of Chicago. Jawaan Chick, 22, of Matteson, was charged with one felony count of dog fighting using his own dog.

Animal Care and Control removed the four injured dogs from the home.
