8 Phoenix High School Football Players Let Go for Hazing

PHOENIX -- Eight players have been kicked off a Phoenix high school football team because of a hazing incident.

Paradise Valley Unified School District officials say the alleged hazing happened July 20 during a football camp in El Cajon, California.

KPHO-TV in Phoenix reported (http://bit.ly/2aEzDyu) Friday that police in El Cajon say the boys involved were all minors.

Lt. Walt Miller did not give details of the incident.

He says that the hazing was physical and left several boys "humiliated."

Miller says the investigation is ongoing and some boys could face misdemeanor charges.

In a statement, the school said the eight student athletes were found to be in violation of district policy and have been appropriately disciplined.

The team's first game is Aug. 19.
