This looks like a good weekend to stay inside and eat chocolate.

Bark in the Park - Soldier Field

It's the perfect time to bond with your canine companion! Bark in the Park is the Anti-Cruelty Society's biggest fundraiser of the year with 100 percent of funds raised directly supporting pets in need of a forever home. The 5k walk steps off at 10 a.m. Sunday at Soldier Field. Then stick around for other fun activities for you and your pooch until 2 p.m.

Origami in the Garden - Morton Arboretum

There's a new outdoor exhibit at the Morton Arboretum. Origami in the Garden features 25 large-scale metal sculptures inspired by the Japanese art of paper folding. The exhibit runs through October 22 and is free with Arboretum admission.

Riverwalk opening - Chicago River

Saturday is the season opening of the Chicago Riverwalk and they've got a bunch of things planned! Free Architecture Foundation walking tours, free kayak and canoe rides for kids, canine cruises, where kids and dogs ride free, face painting, free fishing lessons, music and a big pyrotechnic display to wrap it up! Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Chicago Science Festival - Merchandise Mart

You don't have to be a brainiac to have fun at the Chicago Science Festival Saturday at the Merchandise Mart from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Interactive demonstrations include electric cars, edible bugs, neuro games and subatomic virtual reality!
Skokie Festival of Cultures - Oakton Park

The Skokie Festival of Cultures is one of the premier ethnic festivals in the state with folk music and dance, a wide variety of food, arts and crafts, and a merchandise bazaar. It's Saturday and Sunday at Oakton Park.

Chicago Gay Men's Chorus - Harris Theater, Skokie, Beverly Arts Center

And the latest concert from the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus is BTown: From Barber Shop to Boybands Friday night at the Harris Theater, Saturday night at the North Shore Center for Performing Arts and Sunday afternoon at the Beverly Arts Center!

Long Grove Chocolate Fest - Downtown Long Grove

Satisfy your sweet tooth at the Long Grove Chocolate Fest in downtown Long Grove! Enjoy chocolate tastings, live music, carnival rides, and new this year, the long grove confectionery chocolate experience tent with demonstrations and activities! This tasty fest runs through Sunday.

Mayfest - 3100 N. Ashland


It's the 22nd year for Mayfest, Chicago's annual kick-off event for the festival season. Enjoy great entertainment, a beer garden and terrific cuisine Saturday and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. on Ashland just south of Belmont.

Lincoln Park Wine Fest - Jonquil Park

The Lincoln Park Wine Fest is saturday and sunday at jonquil park. More than 80 varieties of wine will be featured along with food/wine pairings, music and arts and crafts.

What's Blooming on Harrison Street Fest - Oak Park

In Oak Park, the What's Blooming on Harrison Street Fest features an art fair, artist demonstrations, live music, dance performances and more, in the art district along Harrison from Cuyler to Humphrey. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Anime Central - Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont

And the Stephens Convention Center is in Rosemont is once again hosting Anime Central, the largest anime convention in the Midwest! It includes a massive video game room, concerts, dances, workshops, screenings autograph sessions and more through Sunday.
