CHICAGO (WLS) -- The ABC7 I-Team reports that Archdiocese of Chicago abuse investigators have cleared a popular North Side priest.

Father Michael O'Connell of St. Alphonsus Church in Lakeview had been under investigation for allegedly sexually abusing a boy while serving at a different church.

On Monday, the Archdiocese of Chicago's independent review board has determined that there is no reasonable cause to suspect that Father O'Connell engaged in sexual abuse of a minor.

Archdiocese officials say all restrictions on Father O'Connell have been removed and the case is officially closed.

Last week, Cook County Sheriff's Department investigators also closed their case without charges.
