CHICAGO (WLS) -- The city of Chicago may have found a way to save hundreds of thousands of dollars a year -- dropping unused phones.

A recent audit found there are about 2,600 mobile and landline phones owned by the city that should be deactivated.

The cuts would save about $600,000 a year.
