AURORA, Ill. (WLS) -- An Aurora alderman has been accused of stealing for a second time.

Lynne Johnson, 51, is charged with retail theft after she was allegedly caught shoplifting Sunday night from a Meijer store in the 800-block of N. Route 59.

Aurora police said a plainclothes asset protection employee at Meijer allegedly witnessed Johnson concealing various markers, pencils, holiday party favors, and two bottles of Ibuprofen in her purse.

Police said Johnson paid for other items in her shopping cart, but exited the store without paying for the items concealed in her purse. The value of the merchandise was $55.21.

Johnson was busted at that same store - which is located within the ward she represents - in 2013. She pleaded guilty and was granted supervision, according to court records.
