CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 55-year-old Avondale man is in custody in the stabbing death of a 38-year-old woman in Albany Park.

The stabbing took place Thursday around 8 a.m. in the 470-block of North Lawndale.

Hector Rivera, 55, of the 3100-block of North Kimball is facing first-degree murder charges in the death of Erenbira Pimentel-Hernandez.

Pimentel-Hernandez, 38, was stabbed multiple times in a stairwell, authorities said. Minutes earlier, a witness saw her talking to a man in a rear parking lot, according to a police report. The two then walked into the stairwell and closed the door.

The witness heard Pimentel-Hernandez scream and saw the man leave the stairwell and walk to parked pickup truck. He told the witness, "You tell police, I'll get you next," according to the report.

Hernandez, of the 5000 block of West Grand Avenue, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she died at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
