One of Chicago's newest residents decided she would skip the hospital when she came into the world.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- One of Chicago's newest residents decided she would skip the hospital when she came into the world.

The baby girl was born just off the Eisenhower Expressway at Kostner and Lexington.

She was born before 2:30 a.m. Firefighters carried the newborn from a minivan. The family was traveling down the Eisenhower Expressway on the way to a local hospital when the little one couldn't wait any longer.

The minivan was able to get off of the Ike and pull over. The mom can be seen on a stretcher. She was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital along with her new bundle of joy.

It's unclear who was in the car with the mom.

The condition of mom and baby as not immediately known.
